Hi. Darren Pearson here from DNP Consulting. Please feel free to leave feedback on any of my blog postings. I especially encourage feedback from Disqus users.
Tried using Handbrake to convert an mp4 file back to avi for use in a older video editor tool and found out they quit supporting AVI conversion so I started searching around. Found the Pazera Video Conversion Suite, looks like it handles almost anything. (Flash, mov, avi, mpg, etc). Litte bit of a hassle to install but works great.
Made a few changes to Darren’s Corner. I haven’t been using Twitter very much so I decided to delete my Twitter update page. Also have been playing around with LiveStream and set up my own channel. Added a new page to Darren’s Corner to integrate the LiveStream feed. Thinking about maybe using it to supplement classes at SPC. Pretty handy chat features as well as Desktop and Webcam captures.
Just heard a podcast with Guy Kawasaki and decided to check out the new website he’s working on called AllTop. I’ve tried other RSS feed abrogators but none have really worked for me. Check out my customized set of feed here. Looks like a neat tool, guess I’ll give it a try for a few weeks. Would love to hear from anyone else using it and what they think.
Just added a new WordPress plugin from Alex King that will automatically list my postings at Darrens Corner to my Twitter account. Let’s see if this posting shows up.
Great article on the Saint Paul College Website about a good friend and coworker, Jeremy Sartain. I setup a simple blog for him a few years ago and have followed his Ironman progress on it ever since. Great story about staying positive through some tough challenges.
I’ve found myself installing various Windows operating systems a lot over the years. After the OS is installed and patched, it usually takes me a couple of hours to install all the various free software tools I use. Just found a website called Ninite that helps to simplify the process. Includes browsers, imaging tools, music and multimedia tools, Antivirus packages and utilities. Looks pretty handy and I think I’ll have the chance to use it this weekend.
Found a great online Mac Reference guide. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and, using Boot Camp, got XP also installed on my machine. Works very slick. Thought I’d post this since I get a few students each semester migrating from Windows to Macs and though it would be helpful.
