Twitter Plugin Tool

By dpearson

Just added the Twitter Updater by Victoria C as a WordPress plugin. Every new blog post at DarrensCorner.com should now show up on my twitter account over at twitter.com/dpearson. Cool stuff!

Blog Changes

By dpearson

Made a few changes to Darren’s Corner. I haven’t been using Twitter very much so I decided to delete my Twitter update page. Also have been playing around with LiveStream and set up my own channel. Added a new page to Darren’s Corner to integrate the LiveStream feed. Thinking about maybe using it to supplement classes at SPC. Pretty handy chat features as well as Desktop and Webcam captures.

Woopra – Real Time Web Analytics

By dpearson

Just added Woopra to my WordPress Blog. Heard about it on Net@Nite Episode 123. Have used Google Analytics in the past, which worked pretty well but heard that this shows a lot more real time data. I plan on posting more about this after I’ve used it for a week or two.

By dpearson

Just added a Creative Commons License to all of my Tutorial Pages. Pretty easy to do, just followed this PDF Guide. Hope someone will take advantage of these and maybe add-on to the tutorials.

StumbleUpon Functionality

By admin

Just added StumbleUpon to my blog. StumbleUpon has been around for a long time and is a nice way to find new content if you find yourself in a rut visiting the same old websites everyday. While it is a little similar to Digg, the results tend to show up a lot longer by comparison. If you like a blog posting and have a StumbleUpon account (it’s free by the way), just press the “Stumble It” button and choose the which topic it should be filed under.

BTW, once you signup to StumbleUpon, you’ll automatically get a profile page. If you find someone with similar interests as you, it’s nice to check out their profile for new ideas of places to go on the web.

Simple Pie

By dpearson

Found a neat little plug-in called Simple Pie for WordPress. Allows you to easily integrate RSS feeds from other sites into your blog. Also had to install Exec-PHP to get it to work.

Still haven’t figured out exactly how I’m going to use it. Don’t want the landing page on my blog to have too many links on it. Has some great potential though. Found out about it from a friend of mine, Brett Thoreson, using it to integrate a bunch of RSS feeds over at TwinCitiesTechJobs. Great site for anyone looking for tech work in the Twin Cities area.

New Plugin for my Blog

By dpearson

Just added Postmaster to my WordPress blog. It’s not too complicated to setup mobile posting for WordPress, there’s a nice setup guide HERE. The trouble is you can use any photo attachments. Searched and found a great plugin called Postmaster from Brett Duncavage which allows me to take pictures with my mobile phone and upload them directly to my blog. Very cool. Expect to see more mobile posts in the future.
